Instructor in the area and I refer my students to Cream City for any of their guitar/gear/repair What makes the pre-CBS Musicmaster possibly the ultimate retirement guitar is that it has a super short 22.5' scale. While true the guitar was made all the way up until 1982, of course the best ones are the pre-CBS era '59 to '64 models. Staff with a wide selection of guitars, amps, pedals and accessories. Fender Musicmaster was Fender's student guitar. I love this place and have been shopping here for years.I've bought and sold about 15 guitars in the last 3 years and this has been my bestĮxperience with a music shop. Players like Mickey Dean Ween Melchiondo of Ween, Dweezil Zappa. Me to get my specific setup preferences, shipped it promptly, with great communications start This guitar is an all original 1964 Pre-CBS Fender Musicmaster with a nice Slab Board neck. Okay, straight up cream city kicks I bought a tele deluxe over Internet, they worked with. Will absolutely come back here again for my music needs. Got me set up with my new string box and I couldn't be happier with it.

Not only is the service and productĪwesome but I really don't think you will find a better price. I really appreciate theĬommunication and help and advice from both Bill and Andy. The double box they ship the guitars in, everything is done perfectly.

Of my new 12 string Gretsch Country Gentleman with Cream City was a transaction beyond perfect.īrian at Cream City was extremely helpful, honest, professional and communicative - and the guitarĪrrived in perfect condition two days ahead of schedule. Buying an expensive guitar online can be a nerve racking and treacherous process - but the purchase.Paul Schell for helping with the whole process and making my purchase worry-free. I just received my guitar and its fantastic. I've never purchased a guitar online before, so I was bit weary at first. It was my first time buying a used guitar but I would definitely recommend this company. If fact I'm still haven'tīeen able to put it down. Just received my used 1997 Les Paul Studio DC. Sweet, rich tone.Ĭase: Unoriginal hardshell case included along with original 60's Fender booklet. Playability / Sound: Nice, low action - smooth playing neck is very comfortable. Master volume & tone controls - both pots date to '66. Pickup: Single-coil neck pickup - 5.35K ohms. 3-ply pearloid pickguard in great shape with no cracks or breaks.

Top-loading bridge with three adjustable saddles. Neck date is 16 MAR 66 B.īody: Offset, double-cutaway body finished in red. Kluson Deluxe tuners in perfect working condition. Frets show some wear, but have plenty of life in them. Neck: Maple neck with beautoful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard & mother of pearl dot inlays. Overall the guitar has a great look to it with a gorgeous patina. Those are replacements and they were a little loose and vibrating annoyingly now and then, so I added Teflon tape to the threads to keep them in sync and rattle-free.ĭid you also notice the original case? Sheesh number two.Cosmetic Condition: Authentic vintage look - various nicks, chips, dents & dings surface scratches, weather checking & finish wear. The guitar itself is completely original save the adjuster posts/set-screws for the saddles. It's cuffently wearing 46w-10s and it feels stupidly fast to play. Work on this was for a customer and it got a fret level/dress, electronics spray-out, minor cleaning and adjustments, and some very light compensation adjustment to the saddles (via bending the travel screws a tiny hair). The pickup sounds like you'd expect it - like a burlier Strat pickup due to the shortened scale that makes it a little mellower and "rounder" overall. It's even stamped Pedro in the pocket and features the '72 date as well. The neck on this one is home base for me - a medium-slim, round-C profile topped with a steeply-radiused fretboard. I do like the feel of the "little offset" body shape, though, and its 24" scale (in this case) neck. The cat's out of the bag, though - good guitars always increase in value and when you pick up any old vintage Fender and you pop the pickguard to check them out, you can see that they're quality products from the outset - with metal plates for shielding in all of the cavities, tidily-wired harnesses, and higher-spec parts used throughout. We can play the, "I remember when these only cost." all day long because of that. Musicmasters are a gateway drug into vintage Fenders, for sure. Musicmasters are a peculiar guitar - just a DuoSonic without a bridge pickup - and DuoSonics are already just a Mustang without a whammy.
